Membership to the Mayflower Society

How Do I Start?

We suggest your start by completing the two documents attached, completing the Preliminary Lineage Check form with your ancestry starting with your Mayflower Passenger and ending with yourself. The other form is our Prospective Member Fact Sheet to give us your information for the process. These can be emailed or mailed to the Minnesota Historian and a preliminary search will be done in hopes of finding a previously approved application that follows your same ancestry. This will be helpful in completing your application which will be prepared by the Minnesota Historian and returned to you with further instructions.

Membership Transfers

Transfers to the Minnesota Society will start with your current state society. You indicate your wish to transfer and they will contact the Minnesota Historian to indicate if you are in good standing. The Minnesota Historian will issue a new state society number unless you remain a member in both states in which case you would pay dues, if warranted in both states. The same if you want to transfer your Minnesota membership to another state, just in reverse.

Junior Membership to our Society

An applicant under the age of 18 years may apply to become a Junior Member through sponsorship by a related member of the Minnesota Society or upon submission and approval of the necessary lineage papers proving his/her line. The Junior Member category terminates on the individual’s 18th birthday. A junior Member applicant must be related to his/her sponsor in the Minnesota Society by blood through the line through which such a member was approved by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. The term “by blood,” in addition to parents and grandparents, shall be interpreted to include uncles or aunts in the same line.

DNA Policy

The Mayflower Society has created a new DNA policy as of April of 2024 to use to link one generation to another. Please review on the national website TheMayflowerSociety.org
